Hello, I'm Michael A. Jacobs.
Welcome to my site.
As an attorney in the criminal law field, I worked as a deputy district attorney for Orange County for nearly 30 years, retiring in 2006. I also engaged in criminal defense work for about four years. You can tell which side I found more appealing. One thing is for sure, whether prosecuting or defending criminal cases, the work was never boring. The years I spent in the District Attorney’s Office seemed to fly by.
Along the way, I worked with some very fine attorneys, both on the prosecution and defense side, met with some outstanding police investigators, and appeared in front of most of the Orange County Superior Court criminal panel judges in the central and branch courts. When politics didn’t interfere, as they eventually did, working at the D.A.’s Office was the best job I ever had. What I learned about our system of justice, how our local government operates, and about some particular cases I prosecuted, I’d like to share with you.
The years I spent on the Homicide Unit and TRACKRS project were like being on a television true crime series, but better because it was real. So, come along with me if you’d like to know what it’s like to be part of a homicide investigation involving a cold case serial killer, with the various issues and obstacles involved. If that sounds interesting to you, then my first book, TRACKRS, is something you’ll probably want to read.
